Project 5 is a single player sci-fi survival Action RPG set in a photorealistic retrofuture alternate reality inspired by late twentieth century industrial aesthetics. Players assume the role of an Air Force captain who miraculously survives a crash and gains immunity to the mysterious phenomenon known as The Veil, becoming a Walker. The open world supports nonlinear exploration, survival challenges, and free choice across abandoned territories. The narrative reveals the history, conflicts, and hidden rules of this alternate reality.

The core gameplay centers on dynamic combat supported by a perk based character development system. The tactical combat system encourages different play styles through mechanics like Combat Reflexes mode, where time freezes until the player performs an action. Players explore atmospheric locations filled with anomalies that act as mini games violating physical laws and reward careful interaction. Additional systems include crafting, weapon modification, faction reputation, and side activities that affect available opportunities. Player choices influence faction relations, global events, and the fate of the game universe.
