Soldiers: Heroes of World War II has always held a special place in our hearts, and we know it does for many of you as well. For countless players, it serves as a cherished childhood memory, reminding us of the excitement of developing our very first game.
Over the past 20 years, the gaming landscape has undergone significant changes. Various online multiplayer services have shut down, Steam has risen to prominence as a key platform, and new operating systems have emerged. In light of this evolution and our fond memories of the dedicated community surrounding Soldiers, we felt a strong urge to revisit this beloved classic.
Best Way took the initiative to fund and develop the new updates as a token of our gratitude to all of you, our loyal players, who have stood by us through thick and thin. We also wish to thank Fulqrum Publishing for helping us to release these updates on Steam.
These patches are a true labor of love for everyone at Best Way. Our heartfelt hope is that these improvements allow you to relive those cherished nostalgic moments while experiencing Soldiers: Heroes of World War II in a refreshed and enhanced way.
Community Items and Steam Achievements
Ever since the first 2025 update for Soldiers, one request has kept coming up: Steam achievements. We weren’t sure at first if it was doable for a game this old, so we sat down, checked what resources we have, and discussed what could be done.
The good news is that the answer wasn’t just “yes.” During the evaluation stage, we realized we could take things a step further. If we were already touching this part of the game, why not add the things many other classic titles on Steam already enjoy? So we prepared Trading Cards, Profile Badges, Backgrounds, and Emoticons as well.
Along with the 72 Steam achievements, all of these are ready, and you’ll get access to the entire set starting today. It took more time and patience than we expected, but we’re glad we pushed through. Special shoutout to our skilled artists at Best Way who made this update happen!
We hope these additions give you one more reason to revisit Soldiers and enjoy playing some cooperative games with your friends and other players!
